Submitting an Application

We welcome applications that align with the objectives of the Shikishima Foundation, meet its eligibility criteria, are submitted within the application period, and comply with the grant conditions of the Shikishima Foundation.

1. Criteria for Applications

Visual art-related activities to be held between June 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026.

2. Number of grants, amount of grant, and period of grant

  • (i) Number of grants: 1
  • (ii) Grant amount: Maximum of 11,000 Swiss francs
  • (iii) Grant period: For exhibitions held between June 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026

3. Application Procedure

  • (i) Request Application Form

    Those who wish to apply should contact the Shikishima Foundation by email at contact@shikishima.ch to request the Application Form.


  • (ii) How to Fill in the Application Form

    Fill in the Application Form and save it as a PDF file.


  • (iii) How to Apply

    Please submit the completed application (PDF) by email to contact@shikishima.ch, together with the image described in section 4 (iv) below.

4. Required Documents

  • (i) Application form (provided by the Shikishima Foundation)
  • (ii) Itemized income and expenditure budget of the applicant
  • (iii) Statement of purpose, event overview, and other supporting materials (in color)

    * Total must not exceed 20 A4-size pages

  • (iv) Exhibition Image (to be published on the website of the Shikishima Foundation)
    • Image size: Maximum width of 646 px; resolution 144 ppi
    • Color mode: RGB, 8-bit
    • File format: JPEG or PNG
    • Image credit: [please provide image credit on the Application Form]

5. Application period

Start of application period: Sunday, Feburuary 1, 2026, 10:00 a.m. JST

Deadline for applications: by 5:00 p.m. JST on Wednesday, April 15, 2026

* After entering the application details, you will receive an email to confirm receipt. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam folder and/or contact the Shikishima Foundation.

6. Selection and decision on grant aid

The Board of the Shikishima Foundation shall review the applications and shall take the final decisions regarding each requested grant.

Such decision shall be notified to the applicants by the end of April 2026, be final and cannot be appealed.

7. Grant payment schedule

The grant will be paid after the completion of the project and approval of the final report, at the latest by Monday, November 30, 2026.

8. Grant conditions

  • (i) You must submit an "Implementation Plan" before the start of the project. You must also submit an "Implementation Report" and "Financial Report" within two months of the completion of the project.
  • (ii) In principle, any changes that are significantly different from the original plan will not be accepted, but if there are unavoidable reasons that necessitate changes to the venue or period, please contact the Shikishima Foundation in advance.

    You will be required to submit a new "Implementation Plan" with a written explanation of the reasons for the changes. Depending on the nature of the changes, we may suspend the grant itself or revise the grant amount.

  • (iii) For printed materials related to exhibitions, international conferences, etc. that are funded by the Shikishima Foundation, please clearly state that the Shikishima Foundation has provided funding.
  • (iv) Handling of Personal Information

    The Shikishima Foundation will use applicants' and grantees' personal information solely for the purposes of the grant selection and its administration.

    However, names of representatives, organizations, and project titles may be made public.

9. Agreement

In applying for a grant by the Shikishima Foundation you explicitly agree to (i) comply with the applicable law as well as all applicable regulations, and (ii) the Privacy Policy and other rules and regulations of the Shikishima Foundation.
